Everyone says they are sustainable but who is really environmentally friendly?
Since the very start we tried to keep our supply chain as short as possible. For some time now, our socks have been made from organic cotton. However, almost every sock brand now advertises with the term organic and describes how sustainable their company is because of it. But people always forget that only using organic raw materials doesn’t contribute to the sustainability of a product and even less to the sustainability of a company.
For us, sustainability is not a term, but a concept for managing the entire company. Day after day, we try to make the single work steps even more environmentally friendly. Through better planning and local sourcing, we have shortened the supply chain to a minimum. All our socks are fairly produced by a small family business in Brescia, which has many years of experience. On the other hand, we also consider local sourcing when it comes to packaging materials and labels. For example, our new gift boxes are made from apple paper in Bolzano and C02 neutral.
The proximity to the production facility has another advantage: we can visit them at any time to check on things. At least once a year, we visit the production halls in Brescia to make sure all the production runs fair and clean. All the raw materials used are certified and of the highest quality.
But, of course we are not perfect yet. Our next big step is about making the shipping as environmentally friendly as usual and reduce the waste in our warehouse to the minimum.
We also want to encourage consumers to pick quality over price and make them think about what they are buying. Unfortunately socks are not given the importance they deserve at the moment and they are considered a cheap accessories. However, if you really think about it, they are an essential product to our everyday lives and their quality matter a lot during our daily journey. There is no such feeling as enjoying a soft and comfy pair of socks – 24/7.
